CLARK, Mrs. Thelma O. – age 74, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2023 at Golden Pines Senior Living. Family hour 10:00AM Saturday, January 13, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 North Perry Street, with the funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Family and Friends will assemble 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Clark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed between the hours of 12:00PM - 6:00PM Friday. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thelma Odessa Clark, who departed from this earthly life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 8:12 pm, shortly after celebrating her 74th birthday. Her transition marks her entry into God's glorious kingdom, where she joins her late husband, Jerome Clark, and lives eternally with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Thelma was born on Monday, December 12, 1949, to Johnny Evins and Amelia Lamar Mickles in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Woodlawn High School, and subsequently relocated to Michigan, embarking on a distinguished 30-year career with General Motors. During her tenure, she met and fell in love with Jerome Clark, her husband of 48 years, until his passing on March 18, 2022. Thelma and Jerome both worked at General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan, where they established their first family home and welcomed their only child, Tywanda. Thelma will be remembered for her love of God. Her legacy is characterized by her beauty, strength, generosity, and a vibrant personality that left an indelible mark on those around her. Despite silently battling an enduring illness, she now rests free from pain in God's loving arms. Survived by her daughter, Tywanda Clark of Pontiac, MI; three grandchildren, LeToia Clark of Tempe, AZ, and twins Kendyl and Keon Wilson of Pontiac, MI; siblings Bettie Grider of GA, Debra (Marcus) Colbert, and Amelia M. Mickles of TX, Marilyn Kennedy and Harold Mickles of AL, Joe Mickles of CA; along with several relatives and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Clark; parents, Johnny Evins and Amelia Lamar Mickles; and brothers Johnny L., Herman, Anthony, and Renzo Mickles.
