Nunlee-Bey, Mr. Warren Phillip - age 75, passed away, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center-Detroit. Family hour 1:30PM Saturday January 21, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2:00PM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 N. Belford Rd. Holly, Michigan. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Nunlee-Bey will lie instate in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed 3-8:00PM Friday. Mr. Warren Phillip Nunlee-Bey was born December 13, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Theodus Melvin Nunlee Sr. and Martha Jean (Johnson) Nunlee. Warren resided in Pontiac, Michigan a faithful member and Divine Minister of the Moorish Science Temple of America Inc. He graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan. He later went on to attend Wayne County Community College for one year, and then joined the United States Navy. After completing his tours of duty, he became a student in the apprenticeship program for Carpentry. Being in construction he was a carpentry supervisor. He later sought employment at the Detroit Board of Education where he would remain for thirty-two years. Warren was an artist that loved creating various signs and symbols. He took great interest in the teachings of Islamism and educating the youth on how to get involved in skilled trades. His character was love for humanity, animals, nature and highly intelligent. Mr. Nunlee-Bey leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Salome Nunlee-Bey of Pontiac, MI; children, Warren Phillip Nunlee Jr., Tracy Nunlee, Tonya Nunlee, Camille Holli; six stepchildren, Cornelius Cook-Bey, Eirther Seay Bey, Joe Shelmonson-Bey, Salome II Shelmonson-Bey, Mecca Smith-Bey and Amexem Cook-Bey; grandchildren, Ebony, Tiara, Brittany, Courtney, Amber, Wyatt, London, Angelo; step grandchildren, Medina, Clinique, Hassan, Joseph, Prince, Thunder, DeAndre, Shelia, DeQuetta, Udraka, Akasha, Alidon, Sakira, Veda, Righteous, Prophecy; great-grandchildren, KeShawn, Keiondre, Trinity, Tavares, Jaleen, Desira, Au’rea, Kamarie, Prince Z and Allen Jr.; sisters-in-law, Queen Nitfield, Queen Sheba, Medinah and Faustina; brothers-in-law, Mohammed, Buddah, Drew Ali, Vishnu, Cush, Hassan and Nimrod; cousins, Irene, Skip, Angela and Kim; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Nunlee-Bey was preceded in death by his parents, Theodus Melvin Nunlee Sr. and Martha Jean (Johnson) Nunlee; brother, Theodus Melvin Nunlee Jr. father and mother-in-law, Gilbert Cook-Bey and Marie Cook-Bey; The family would like to express special thanks to the Moorish Science Temple of America Inc., the Muffi Staff and Sister Auxiliary.
